Treatment Services
Chiropractic care is a healthcare discipline centered on diagnosing and treating neuromuscular disorders, primarily those affecting the spine and extremity joints. By using manual adjustments or specialized procedures, we aim to restore proper function and alleviate pain in the musculoskeletal system. It’s frequently sought for conditions like back pain, neck pain, joint discomfort in the arms or legs, and headaches, offering a non-invasive approach to improve mobility and overall well-being without relying heavily on medications or surgery.
Spinal manipulation
also called “adjustments” combines moving and manipulating the joints of the spine and extremities to improve the biomechanical function of the joint, reduce inflammation, and improve nerve function. It’s often used to treat back, neck, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle pain.
Dry Needling
is a treatment procedure with a thin monofilament needle that penetrates and treats underlying muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
Shockwave (ECST)
also known as “Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy” is a medical treatment that uses high-energy pressure waves to help heal painful areas around joints, tendons, or muscles. These waves are sent through the skin to the injured tissue, breaking up scar tissue, stimulating blood flow, and encouraging the body to repair tissue. It’s non-invasive, meaning no surgery is needed, and it can reduce pain and improve movement, often used for conditions like tendonitis or sports injuries.
Spinal Decompression Therapy
involves traction and stretching the spine, using a motorized table, with the goal of relieving back pain and/or leg pain.
This procedure is called nonsurgical decompression therapy (as opposed to surgical spinal decompression, such as laminectomy and microdiscectomy).
It ultimately creates a pressure change in the disc and joints of the spine in order to eliminate nerve and joint pain.
We’re On Your Team
Dr. Behrend seeks to fully evaluate a patients condition using a comprehensive examination that can include: physical, orthopedic, and neurological examinations, functional movement assessment, gait analysis, postural evaluation, joint motion palpation, muscle flexibility and strength evaluation, X-rays and/or MRI.
Treatment is aimed at reducing pain and improving joint function and mechanics. Treatments can include: spinal adjustments and manipulations, decompression therapies, dry needling, shockwave therapy (ECST), rehabilitation exercises, and ergonomic considerations.
